Sedgemoor District Scout Fellowship Report
2008/9
Having recently taken over the
Chairmanship of the District Scout Fellowship I thought my first
point would be to remind everyone of why we exist and what our aims
are.
Essentially
Fellowship members are a group of adults who wish in some way to
provide 'active support' to local Scouting. The Fellowship is made
up of men and women of all ages, interests and backgrounds, whether
or not they have been involved with Scouting or Guiding before. All
members of Scout Fellowship are there because they wish to give some
of their time to Scouting - this can be as much or as little as they
like, in a wide variety of activities. We also have our own social
and activity programme, which I will share the results of last year
in a moment.
The aim of
the Scout Fellowship is to "Provide Active Support", with the
emphasis being very much on practical support of the youth programme
at all levels of the Association, from the local Scout Group to
Explorers and County events.
Fellowship is open to all Leaders so
please feel welcome to join us on any or all of our social events or
when we are involved in supporting a Programme event for example
Sixers Camp.
I did mention our Programme of last
year, we took part in a Racing Evening at ‘Ascot’ with everyone
dressed for the occasion, an Uno evening complete with a Fish and
Chip supper, afternoons out and summer evening barb-a-queues and
many more. All very successful and enjoyable. We also undertook a
number of Active Support roles in the District at the St Georges Day
Parade and Sixers Camp to name but two events.
I would also like to take this
opportunity to thank Darby Allen and John Heal for their work over
the past few years as Chairman and Secretary and wish them well, I’m
sure we will continue to see lots of them.
Finally we as a fellowship would enjoy
supporting you so please take the opportunity and let us know what
we can do to help you with your work in your section.
